Job Description:
Assent Advisory Group is seeking an Audit Readiness Analyst to provide financial management and audit support to the Marine Corps Logistics Command Working Capital Fund (SMAG and DMAG). The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing financial accountability through transaction analysis, process remediation, and audit support activities. This position requires a strong understanding of Department of Defense financial systems, accounting operations, and internal control frameworks. Due to the nature of the role, only U.S. Citizens may be considered.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Perform financial data analytics, account reconciliations, and root cause analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct financial statement reviews and detailed causative research; develop and implement corrective action plans to address variances.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of financial management operations and identify improvement areas.
- Draft policy updates, develop training materials, and create process enhancements in response to identified weaknesses or control gaps.
- Provide coaching and hands-on training to Marine Corps personnel on financial management practices and internal controls.
- Conduct internal control assessments to support audit readiness and compliance with federal financial management standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Marine Corps Working Capital Fund audit requirements and audit-response activities.
- Support internal and external audit testing by coordinating requests, gathering supporting documentation, and ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in accounting, audit readiness, or financial management within the federal government or defense sector.
- Strong understanding of general and governmental accounting principles (GAAP and FASAB).
- Demonstrated experience performing financial statement analysis, data analytics, and reconciliation of large financial datasets.
- Proven background in Working Capital Fund accounting operations, including policies, procedures, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with DoD, Navy, and Marine Corps financial policies and system interdependencies.
- Hands-on experience with Navy ERP, Advana, or similar enterprise financial management systems.
- Knowledge of internal control and risk management frameworks such as OMB Circular A-123 and the GAO Green Book.
- Ability to interpret federal audit standards, conduct root cause analysis, and develop effective remediation strategies.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to present complex findings to senior leadership.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree (Preferred)
Licenses/Certifications:
- CISA, CDFM, CGFM, CIA, and/or CPA (Preferred)
